1.    Keywords In <Title> Tag –  Always put your targeted keyword or keywords in the beginning of the tag.  Also most experts agree the title should not exceed 60 to 70 characters but there are always exceptions to the rule.  Keeping the title under 60 characters is always a good rule of thumb.  So to sum up most targeted keyword phrase should start off the title if you can and the length of the title should be optimally 60 characters or less.

2.    Keywords In URL –  Many people purchase a website pre-made or have one custom built for them that comes with tour1, tour2, tour3, etc… as the page names which Is a bit absurd because there is nothing descriptive about tour last I heard.  Instead of tour1 using a most targeted keyword phrase for that page in the page name such as turnkeytalk.com/seo-marketing/.  This way the phrase in the page name accurately describes what the page is about.

3.    Keyword Density In Document Text –  First lets define keyword density.  Keyword Density is is defined as the percentage of times a keyword or phrase appears on a page compared to the total number of words on that page.  You should be absolutely safe by not going over 10% on any keyword or keyword phrases.  Anything above that could be considered spam but the abuse of the system has to be pretty flagrant otherwise you should be fine.  Some experts say 7% and that sounds fine to me.  I am a big believer that you should definitely have more than a few keywords at 7% keyword density vice having one.

4.    Keywords In Anchor Text –   This is extremely important in obtaining good relevant links.  It is one thing to obtain links from a good link source while it is another thing to have very relevant text in that anchor or link from that terrific link source.  The words in the anchor mean so much to your site defining what your site will be known or popular for.  Anchor text is extremely important in linking and should be taken very seriously.  Map out 5 or so different anchor texts you desire your site to be known for.  Take those 5 keywords and make sure that at least 20% of the time you use each keyword or keyword phrase as the anchor in your links.

5.    Keywords in Headings H1, H2, etc… – Another place where it is extremely important to use your targeted and very relevant keywords, especially at the beginning of the header.  Always try and start the header off with your main keyword phrase you are targeting for that page or at least that paragraph that comes directly after the header.  Watch keyword stuffing because it could bite you right in the ass as spam on Google.  Use the keyword phrase at the beginning of the header and then make sure you also use it in the first or second sentence in your paragraph immediately after the header.  Don’t bother with headers h3, h4, etc……  They are basically useless.

I don’t think you could find a so called SEO Expert to say these 5 are not the most important aspects of optimizing a home based online business website.  People might throw in links but anchor text is covered in this article as one of the 5 most important and anchor text is the most important aspect in any link coming in to your site.
